"Public policy affects individual lives in complex and sometimes unexpected ways". Tom Shakespeare. WHO podcast 04/09
Public policy can be defined as the course of action taken by government entities with regard to a particular issue or set of issues. It is embodied in a system of regulatory measures, laws, and judicial decisions. Public policies can have a huge impact on many aspects of people's lives. There are often broad social consequences of government policies, which are set by all levels of government.
The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MHLTC) sets strategic directions for Ontario’s health care system and supports them with legislation and policy. CAMH monitors
and responds to government policies that affect people experiencing mental health issues and/or addictions.
Information is provided on two main types of public policy issues, health care policy and French language services.
