This guideline provides clinical recommendations for the initiation, maintenance and discontinuation of buprenorphine/naloxone maintenance treatment in the ambulatory treatment of adults and adolescents with opioid dependence in Ontario. The guideline intends to contribute to education of practitioners regarding opioid prescribing, improved patient access to treatment for opioid dependence, and safe prescribing and dispensing of buprenorphine/naloxone.
This toolkit was developed by CAMH and St. Joseph's Health Centre to fill a need for a practical reference resource on caring for patients with substance use problems in a primary care setting. Based on current clinical evidence and the extensive clinical experience of the editors, the toolkit provides brief answers to common clinical questions, as well as relevant clinical tools and patient resources. Development on the toolkit will continue over the next few years.
